✦ World Gym HIIT Class – Stoner Journal Entry ✦
Rolled into World Gym today with half-stoned vibes, earbuds in, playlist ready, and a little trepidation. HIIT classes have always been a weird mix of love-hate for me: part “I love the burn,” part “Why did I sign up for this?” Today, it was both — in the best kind of way.
Walking in, the gym smelled like rubber mats and energy, faint hints of protein shakes lingering in the air. The fluorescent lights made everything feel sharper, almost like I was stepping into a high-energy comic panel. My legs felt a little lazy, my brain a little hazy, but the music thumping through the speakers quickly started syncing with my heartbeat.
✦ Warm-Up
We started with a warm-up that felt deceptively simple: jogging in place, arm circles, bodyweight squats. But in a stoned haze, every move feels exaggerated. I noticed the tiny details — the way my feet hit the mat, the stretch in my arms, the heat creeping into my chest.
💭 Mood: introspective yet jittery. I was thinking about how much our bodies can surprise us when we show up.
✦ The HIIT Circuit
And then… the circuit. Burpees, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, push-ups, and some terrifying combination of all of the above. My lungs screamed, my legs shook, but in that stoner mindset, each drop of sweat felt like a badge of honor, proof that I existed in this moment fully, intensely.
-
Burpees: Oh god, why did I sign up for burpees? But each one felt like a tiny rebellion against laziness.
-
Mountain Climbers: Heart racing, brain fog lifting, music making me feel like I was moving in slow motion and fast motion at the same time.
-
Push-ups: The burn in my arms was almost meditative, counting reps felt like counting stars while floating in a cloud.
💭 Mood: half pain, half exhilaration. There’s a weird beauty in feeling your own limits and then pushing past them.
✦ Mid-Class Reflection
By halfway through, I was dripping with sweat, my shirt sticking to my back, heart pounding like it was composing its own song. Somehow, the stoner haze made everything hyper-vivid — I noticed the flicker of light on the wall, the rhythm of everyone else’s movements, the little encouraging shouts from the instructor.
Stoner thought: HIIT class is basically a live-action meditation, except your mind screams “why me?” every 30 seconds.
✦ Cool Down & Stretch
The last ten minutes were stretching and breathing. Oh, the stretch. Standing hamstring stretches, child’s pose, shoulder rolls — every inhale felt like liquid calm washing over my chaotic energy. I could actually feel the difference in my body: muscles tired but alive, awakened, buzzing with satisfaction.
💭 Mood: triumphant, reflective, slightly euphoric. There’s a stoner joy in knowing you showed up, burned energy, and survived.
✦ Post-Class Thoughts
Walking out, body sticky with sweat, I grabbed a water bottle and paused for a moment in the sunlight streaming through the gym windows. My brain was clear, my body tired but humming, and my stoned mind was savoring the high of accomplishment.
Zine reflection: HIIT at World Gym is chaotic, intense, addictive, and strangely meditative. Show up for the burn, stay for the clarity.
