✦ Candy Can – Cotton Candy Zero-Sugar Sparkling Drink ✦
I picked up the Candy Can – Cotton Candy Zero-Sugar Sparkling Drink mostly because I couldn’t resist the packaging. The can is impossibly cute, with bright colors and retro vibes that instantly made me think of neon-lit arcades and late-night diners where everything feels a little more magical. It’s exactly the sort of thing you’d expect to see in someone’s Instagram story, or lined up on a collector’s shelf. There’s this playful, nostalgic energy to the design that promises a really fun experience before you even pop the tab.
But the excitement ended the moment I took my first sip. I was hoping for that nostalgic, melt-in-your-mouth cotton candy flavor—something sweet and airy, maybe a little fizzy, and definitely reminiscent of carefree days at the fair. Instead, I was hit with a wave of artificial sweetness that lingered in a way that felt almost medicinal. The aftertaste was cloying and persistent, a disappointing reminder that zero-sugar drinks can sometimes overcompensate with sweeteners that just don’t taste right. It’s not just that it didn’t taste like cotton candy; it didn’t really taste pleasant at all. Each sip felt like a promise broken, and I couldn’t help but wish I’d just stuck to admiring the can rather than actually drinking what was inside.
It’s a real shame, because the aesthetic is spot-on—playful, eye-catching, and full of personality. This is the kind of drink you want to show off, maybe even keep on display long after it’s empty. But unfortunately, what’s inside doesn’t come close to matching the excitement that the outside inspires. It’s a perfect example of style over substance: all the charm and nostalgia on the outside, but none of the joy or satisfaction in the actual drink. If only the flavor could live up to the can’s promise, it would be a winner. As it stands, though, you’re better off just enjoying the packaging and skipping the sip.
★☆☆☆☆ — One star for being adorable, zero for tasting like disappointment.
